  • Steve Calveley

    Steve originally hails from Anglesey. After completing a Zoology (Physiology) Honours degree at The University of Liverpool, Steve decided the student life was for him and enrolled onto the Veterinary Science course, also at Liverpool. Steve has been with Charter since qualifying, working at the Congleton branch initially and, since 2007 , as a small animal clinician at the Newcastle and Smallthorne branches. He now is pursuing his main interest in small animal medicine and surgery. Steve is currently studying towards a further certificate and particularly enjoys soft tissue surgery. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming and running to try and maintain a level of fitness. Weather permitting, Steve enjoys the outdoor life; in particular camping and cycling with the family. The Peak and Lake Districts are favourite places. His two young children – both boys -keep him very busy at weekends.

    Katherine graduated from Edinburgh University in July 2017, after catching the veterinary bug when working as a weekend receptionist at a Veterinary Hospital. At home, Katherine has a yellow labrador called Bailey and in her spare time enjoys baking and walking.

    Tara graduated from Liverpool university in 2021 and joined the charter team in January 2023. Tara has a keen interest in all aspects of surgery. Tara has a keen interest in all species of animals and has from a very young age. Owning a variety of animals over the years from rabbits, Guinea pigs, chickens, birds, horses, cats and dogs. Tara enjoys spending time off with her family and has two teenage daughters at home. Tara enjoys horse riding and walking her two dogs,a pug and rescue French bulldog-buddy and Zoe.

    Dan has been working in the veterinary profession for 11 years, starting out as a receptionist and working his way up to qualifying as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2016. At home, Dan has a Springer Spaniel called Cookie, 2 cats and a bearded dragon. He is also a season ticket holder with Stoke City.

    Emma has been an integral part of the team at Newcastle-under-Lyme since 2009 when she joined us at the age of 17. Emma became a fully qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2020. At home, Emma owns 2 very special little dogs called Freddie and Dixie, two cats, three rabbits, one guinea pig and 2 budgies!

    Amy volunteered for Newcastle-under-Lyme before joining the team as an Auxiliary Nurse, and now as a Student Nurse. Amy has always had a keen interest in ‘small furries’ and holds a masters degree in animal behaviour.  At home Amy has 5 (yes 5!) rescue rabbits!

    Emma Jane joined Charter Vets in 2016. Emma qualified as a Veterinary Care Assistant in 2016 and is hoping to become a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse in the near future. At home, Emma has a cat called Olly and a Border Terrier called Muttley.

    Jayne joined the reception team at Charter Vets in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 2008. Jayne is a self-confessed animal lover, therefore enjoys her job immensely. At home, Jayne owns a dog called Milly and enjoys dancing and gardening.
